This weekend the motorsport season for gets under way for Production Touring Car Competitor Jake Shelley and his Deputy.com sponsored Mitsubishi Evo 9. Jake will be teaming with follow New South Welshman Michael Shaw, as the pair attempt to defend their crown at the Wakefield 300.

After winning the Wakefield event last year, Jake then partnered with his father, Steve, at the second race of the two round series, the Winton 300. At the Victorian meet the pair used their experience of driving together and competing a whole season with Production Touring Cars, to come agonisingly close to taking a victory at the circuit. The win ultimately going begging due to a punctured tyre late in the race.

It really is a unique scenario for a father and son combination to not only travel to race meetings together, but to compete in the same team, and this year, their own cars within that team. Late last year, we got the opportunity to have a chat to Jake and Steve about their experience with motorsport and how it affects their relationship. The video of that interview is shown below.
